In 1998, St. John the Baptist Parish adopted a sister Parish, Santisimo Sacramento (Blessed Sacrament), in Piura, Peru, located approximately 600 miles north of Lima, Peru's capital, and approximately 25 miles inland from the Pacific Ocean.
The Parishioners of St. John the Baptist came together to spend reflection time with Father Joe so that they might deepen their connection to God through their ministry served by traveling to Peru and participating from St. John's Parish in Edmond for the Parishioners in Peru.

Something Beautiful for God Video
Fr Uhen composed a touching video slide presentation that depicts life in Peru, reflects the souls of the community members touched by and through service to the Peru families and gives us a glimpse into the hearts of those served and serving in Peru.
If you have time for no other podcast, don't miss this one. Fr. Uhen and Jim Doherty recite inspirational words given us by St. Theresa of Kolkata, Pope Benedict, Pope Francis and Pope Saint John Paul II, as well as biblical passages that illuminate for us the call to serve the poor. These inspirations will not only stir your heart to give in some way, but in a greater sense, will help you get in touch with your personal commitments to stewardship.
In this segment two young adults reflect on their experience in serving the poor. In vulnerable ways they each share ways their life in Christ has been awakened in unexpected ways through their service in Peru. They describe how their lives have been changed and how their commitment has strengthened for the work that is yet to be done.
Many retreat participants share their experience of the day or reflect their life-changing experiences that resulted from serving in Peru. each person shares for a few minutes and each heart-felt message is thought provoking and probing for us.
