Adult Spiritual Formation programs are provided to nurture spiritual growth in adult parishioners as they mature in their relationships with the Lord. As we each make our personal commitments grow in virtue, service, and vocation, we recognize the need to be aware and awake to the promptings of the Holy Spirit.  These programs are designed to spark the fire or kindle the flames that burn in our hearts.

The Discipleship Process
Do you want to integrate all the "Catholic stuff" you know? Do you want to know Jesus better? Do you want to know the Holy Spirit? Do you want practical, orthodox Catholic guidance on how to "grow" and overcome obstacles to your adult relationship with God? Do you want to understand how to bring about the Kingdom of God as a lay person in your world? Do you want to be part of a community that helps you grow in your relationship with God? If so, then this study is a great foundational study. The first step in this process is a six-week study which meets once per week for 90 minutes. Groups can meet at any time, currently running every night at 7:00 pm. (405) 348-0480 x338

Retreat in Daily Life
The Ignatian
Retreat in Daily Life is a prayer journey for those who want to live more deeply in relationship with God. Based on the Spiritual Exercises of St. Ignatius of Loyola, the retreat is a time set apart in the midst of everyday life to help participants discern more clearly God's movement in their hearts. In the tradition of Ignatian spirituality, the retreat focuses on the life, teachings, death, and resurrection of Jesus through a prayerful encounter with Scripture. The Ignatian principle of "finding God in all things" lies at the heart of the retreat. During the course of 30 weeks-from October through April-participants live their commitment to God, to themselves, and to their fellow participants by following the steps of this prayer journey.
Each commits to these three activities:
1) Daily private prayer which includes Scripture, reflection, and journaling,
2) Weekly small group meetings in which participants share their prayer experiences with each other. Groups are facilitated by a spiritual guide, and
3) Twice monthly individual spiritual direction.
The fee for the retreat is $100 per month. Also there is a one-time fee of $60 for materials. No one is turned away from the retreat for lack of funds, and a fee schedule can be agreed upon-based on ability to pay. For more information and to set up a preliminary interview, contact Nancy Vargas, (405) 760-4640, or Dick Alexander, (405) 473-5481.

Wednesday Bible Study
Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist. September 5-26, 9:30 am - 11:00 am Cost: $20.
What is it that is so special about the Eucharist? Although the Eucharist appears to be simple bread and wine, it is actually the “source and summit” of the Christian life. Presence: The Mystery of the Eucharist is a four week study that explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members. It is the crescendo of the entire story of salvation.

Philippians: Life in Christ. October 3 through November 7, 9:30 am - 11:00 am Cost: $30.
Towards the end of his life, under arrest and awaiting trial in Rome, Saint Paul writes a short but powerful letter to the Philippians. Paul’s affection for the Christian community at Philippi is apparent from his opening words. The Philippians were not only Paul’s sons and daughters in the Faith but also his partners in sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. At the heart of this letter is Paul’s eloquent hymn of Christ’s total gift of self, the model for Paul’s life. With his words and the example of his life, Paul exhorts the Philippians to have the mind of Christ, to live a life worthy of the Gospel, and, by God’s grace, to gain Christ. In six sessions, Dr. Tim Gray combines insight and practical guidance using the lectio divina disciplines to make the Scriptures come alive in Philippians: Life in Christ.

Stories of Faith
These occasional evening sessions include the testimonies of conversion by St. John parishioners. We have converts who will inspire you with their journey into the Catholic Church. We have reverts, people who left the Church, and then came back through the intervention of God. They, too, have amazing faith stories to tell. We also have many cradle Catholics who have experienced the love and power of God in miraculous ways. It will lift you up to hear their stories. Look in the parish newsletter and at our website for upcoming sessions this fall.

An Eight-Part Bible Study Featuring Jeff Cavins (Presenter)and Thomas Smith. Paul’s letter to the Ephesians reveals many remarkable gifts that we as Christians are given in the Church. This letter tells us about the nature of the Church—as a body, as a household, as a mystery, as a communion, as a bride, and as an army. It shows us the great inheritance that awaits us as sons and daughters, adopted fully into the family of God. It reveals how God’s great love for us can transform our daily lives—if we allow it. Ephesians will enrich your faith—and show you how to live it out.

Lunch & Learn
Formation and community building every Tuesday for 90 minutes.

Cursillo
The Cursillo is an encounter with Christ.  That sounds too simple, but it's not.  Think about it --a real meeting with Christ.  If that is understood, then the power, beauty and joy of the Cursillo Movement will be understood.  Cursillo (pronounced kur-see-yo) is a Spanish word meaning "little" or "short course". The name of the movement is Cursillo de Christendad, or a short course in Christianity.
